Buoyed by their Knock Out Cup semi-final triumph over Teddy Bears, Carrick and District Pool League champions Greenisland Galacticos followed one positive result with another, thanks to a 9-5 win at Eastway.

Best for the hosts R. McMurtry (2/3), T. Leggett (2/3) and A. Corrigan (2/3). S. Greenberg (2/2), A. McMeeken (2/3) and P. Henderson (2/3) performed well for the visitors.

Over in Doagh, the Weapons were edged out 8-6 by leaders, The Swift. Given recent results, the Doagh men were looking to get back on terms. However, The Swift just had a little too much for them with Paul Roberts’ 8-ball clearance among the highlights as his side took all three points back to Carrick.

Alan Corrigan held his nerve to take the last frame as the Cowboys and Hit Men & Her shared the spoils in a 7-7 draw while The Scorpions saw off the ever-improving Teddy Bears on a 9-5 scoreline.

Clare Roberts’ Warriors defeated new boys Greenisland Colts 10-4 with hat-tricks for Johnny Johnston and G. Crawley.

Result of the week went to the Greenisland Working Men’s Club who finally got their season up and running at home to Whitehead Spartans.

With the visitors holding a slim 4-3 advantage at the break, the hosts rattled out a 6-1 second-session win, propelled by a fine hat-trick from Andy Galloway and braces for Rab Brown, Joe Patton and Hugh Reagan.

The Whitehead Trojans recorded a 14-0 walkover due to Alpha’s transport issues.
