Saturday’s Junior League top of the table clash between Ballyclare Ladies II and their Ards counterparts turned out to be a one-sided affair.
These teams had gone in to this Section 2 fixture locked together in pole position, but the County Down girls proved to be much superior and rammed in six goals without reply.
It all started to go wrong for the home side when Ards opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and two more followed before the break.
Despite employing damage limitation tactics in the second session three more goals were conceded to give the final score a rather lop-sided look.
Team captain Zoe Reid said: “Ards were sharper in the circle where they put away most of their chances despite an outstanding performance by our goalkeeper, Naomi Ferris. We had scoring chances but failed to deliver, but the 6-0 result rather flattered Ards II.”
Top performers were Joanne Cooke, Janice Wilson and Naomi Ferris.
The result leaves the Ards girls in pole position with the ‘Clare girls in second spot.
