Ballyclare’s Jamie Hamilton returned from the 2013 Isle of Man TT with a clutch of much-coveted replica trophies, but he would love to better that at this year’s competition.
The 23-year-old races for Wilson Craig Honda in the Superbike, Senior, Superstock and Supersport races on Honda machinery. He will also contest the Lightweight TT on board a 650cc ER6 Kawasaki for Stewart Smith Racing.
On the back of a North West 200 he would rather forget, Hamilton hopes to be a star on name at this week’s event.
“I had a terrible time at the NW200 but I am putting that all behind me and focusing on the TT,” he said.
“Last year I had some good results over the race week, coming home with a lot of replicas and this time I would really love to get on the rostrum and, if my luck’s in, maybe win one.
“It’s my third time at the TT and I believe I have served my apprenticeship around the circuit and now is the time to really push for the podium.
“I came close last year in the Supertwins race when I finished fifth, only 13 seconds behind the winner.
“We’ll see how it goes on the day. Hopefully we have left all the problems with the Wilson Craig Hondas behind us at the NW because with a trouble-free run on the Island I believe the results will follow.
“All I need is a change of luck.”
He added: “Whatever happens I will go along for the ride and enjoy myself, give it 100 per cent and return to Ballyclare with another bag of replicas for the mantelpiece.”
