Appeal to stop church vandals

A Newtownabbey clergyman appealed for an end to vandalism against his church in September 1985.

Reverend Dennis McKillen made a heartfelt plea for everyone in the community to help put an end to the “mindless acts.”

The minister at Whitehouse Presbyterian Church said that there had been vandalism against the church for two years

He revealed how he had watched as damage had been caused in the past, but now wanted to bring it out into the open and to ask everyone to do what they can to help.

He said “vandalism of any property is regrettable, but it is sickening to think of people deliberately setting out to destroy a church.” He asked parents to keep an eye on their children.
