Academy take part in Community Rugby Scheme

THIS season Newtownabbey-based Academy RFC is taking part in a Community Rugby Scheme in tandem with Ulster Rugby. The initiative will see a Community Rugby Officer make regular visits to schools and colleges within the greater Belfast, Newtownabbey and Antrim areas. It will cover both primary and secondary schools and aims to introduce as many new players to the game as possible.

Academy boasts a thriving Mini section which has continued to grow year on year, and on Saturday mornings at Roughfort up to 160 kids don their boots to play.

They have also just returned from Rodez in the South of France with their Maxi rugby group (aged 11 and 12). This is the sixth successive year they have made this trip.

If you are interested in playing rugby for Academy at any age group why not check out the club’s website, and get in touch.
