The annual Ophir Rugby Sevens tournament, which was established in 1974, will be held next month at Valley Park.
The popular two-day event kicks off on Friday, August 10 with an under-19s competition (6.30pm) when clubs will be vying to get their hands on the Ken Bonar Memorial trophy. The main tournament begins the following day at 1pm with 12 sides expected to battle it out for the Will Totten Memorial trophy, presented by the Mayor of Newtownabbey.
As well as a great day’s rugby, the Mallusk-based club will also provide children’s entertainment, face-painting and refreshments to make it a fabulous fun-filled occasion for the entire family.
Meanwhile, Ophir RFC’s pre-season training sessions will commence at The Cottonmount, Mallusk on Tuesday, July 17 at 7pm for adults and Wednesday, July 18 at 6.30pm for youth players aged 11-17 years.
