Auld Boys release CD ‘Riggy Dig’

The Pride of the Orange and Blue Auld Boys have released a 24-track CD just in time for Christmas.

Dedicated to the memory of two former members, it includes the highly popular ‘Purple Banner’

The POTOAB Auld Boys re-appeared on the parade scene in Ulster in 2007, and close links were struck up with the Loyal Orders, notably City of Edinburgh Campsie Apprentice Boys of Derry, Churchill LOL871, Mitchelburne and No Surrender Apprentice Boys of Derry Parent Clubs.

The past year brought varying fortunes for the band, according to Committee member Geoff Cruickshank with the sad loss of two members, one serving and one ex-member: “Joe Magee, having been a dedicated and loyal member and friend, initially lost his battle with illness, but not before recording nigh on 20 years’ service to the band. Scott Wray was another sad loss. A musical genius who always seemed to struggle to channel his extraordinary talents. Both men left great memories for all who knew them. Memories that will be fondly recalled for many years to come.”

Geoff added: “We take this opportunity to thank our many friends in Newbuildings, Londonderry and further afield for their continued moral and financial support.”

Dedicated to the memory of both Joe and Scott, proceeds from the sale will be used to buy new uniforms.

“The band has been wearing the same uniform since it was reformed in 2007, so it is time for an update in time for the UK City of Culture in 2013. The CD is available from all Auld Boys members.”
