Bushtown Hotel to host major country festival

WHEN well-known singer Kieran McGilligan organised his first country music festival at his Bushtown House Hotel in Coleraine he was understandably apprehensive in relation to the response it might engender given the prevailing economic climate.

However, Kieran need not have worried. Such was the success of the venture indeed that it’s now all systems go for another major festival at the Bushtown on Sunday, October 31 and Monday, November 1 when some the biggest acts in Ireland will be on stage.

And with patrons from areas all over the country having already indicated that they will be attending it would seem that Kieran is onto another winner.

Topping the bill at a gala country dance on the Sunday night will be Hugo Duncan and his band while Boxcar Brian and Kenny Archer will be the guest artistes and then on Monday night the brilliant Robert Mizzell and his band look set to ensure that the ‘house full’ notice will go up. Joining them on stage will be popular Downtown Radio presenter Warren Smyth who is also an accomplished performer in his own right.

"We wanted to ensure that we came up with a top-class bill and we feel we have achieved this. We are offering a package in terms of entertainment and accommodation that we feel will suit most pockets. Obviously people who stay with us will be able to take in the scenic beauty of the north Antrim coast, the Giant’s Causeway and other attractions as part of what we hope will prove a memorable visit for them to this part of the world," Kieran said.

With two nights bed and breakfast plus one evening meal and admission to all shows on offer from prices starting at 80 per person sharing, the Bushtown is certainly adopting a value for money mantra.

Kieran added: "We feel it is important that patrons should enjoy the benefits of an overall package that might not be on offer elsewhere."
