Lively Lurgan music scene

LURGAN has always had a reputation for having a vibrant music scene and no more so than now.

There are many talented bands bringing a lively sparkle to the town and the night scene is certainly picking up, particularly at weekends.

A great crowd turned out on Friday night for the long-awaited reopening of the Corner House.

The vibe around the Derrymacash was very positive and all were saying how great it was to have the bar open again.

Owner Colin Bell laid out a fine spread of sandwiches and nibbles in the bar and lounge.

Black Gold rocked the lounge and I understand Folk Fusion who played Saturday night were a hit as well.

The decor is much the same but owner Colin Bell has lots of ideas and plans for the bar.

He intends to have live bands every weekend and is soon going to open the restaurant.

On Saturday night eclectic two-piece Autopilot were playing the Railway Bar. As ever Chris and Jock get a huge crowd and the dancefloor was packed.

And on Sunday night the Railway was treated to a virtuoso display from a young singer-songwriter known only as Ryan. A versatile musician, he played some really cool music and took a good few requests from the crowd.

All-in-all a fun-packed weekend of great music. Great to see lively Lurgan in full swing.
