Lyric reopening draws nearer

THE stunning new £18.1million Lyric Theatre opens with The Crucible by Arthur Miller.

Hailed as one of the greatest plays ever written, the play marks the return to the Lyric of what it does best - producing professional drama and working with and nurturing the best of local indigenous talent.

Arthur Miller’s compelling dramatisation of the hellish Salem witchcraft trials, an allegory to McCarthyism, quickly became a central and revolutionary work in the canon of American drama.

The play also symbolically marks the return home of the Lyric in a new melting pot for creativity in its new haven on Ridgeway Street. With a cast of 19 actors, The Crucible will be one of the largest shows the Lyric has ever produced and is an ideal opportunity to showcase the new auditorium, the Northern Bank Stage and break in the theatre’s rehearsal room.

Conall Morrison directs while Patrick O’Kane and Catherine Cusack play the lead roles. The Crucible runs at the Lyric Theatre on the Northern Bank Stage from Tuesday, May 3 to Sunday, June 5. Tickets which range in price from £5 to £23 can be booked online at www.lyrictheatre.co.uk or through the Box Office on 9038 1081.
