“Proms in the Park is a spectacular finish to the BBC Proms season, and we would be delighted to host the Last Night celebration spill out from London’s Royal Albert Hall with a live link up.

“It would be a fantastic event to showcase our beautiful park and also to work with the Friends of Brownlow House to ensure that it too is broadcasted around the world.

“We will be calling on all councillors to support our motion and we will not be found wanting in trying to make this this happen.”

Last year’s BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland took place at the Titanic Slipway in Belfast.

The concert on Saturday, September 7, featured the Ulster Orchestra under conductor David Brophy.

Proms in the Park includes traditional elements of the Last Night of the Proms and above all great music and a party atmosphere.

The concert is traditionally broadcast live on radio and television.

Events are held in London, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Each show is centred around a live concert with its own high-profile artists, BBC orchestras and presenters. The evening culminates in a live big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall for the traditional singalong.
