Please celebrate Bike Week!

TO celebrate Bike Week 2010, Ballymoney Borough Council has joined forces with Coleraine Borough Council to organise a Lower Bann Cycle Event on Saturday 19th June 2010.

The event is being held to publicise the recently established National Cycle Network Route 96 through both Council areas, as well as the Connect2 shared use path network in Ballymoney Borough.

The event will commence at 10.00am in the main car park at Riverside Park, Ballymoney (off Armour Avenue) and follow 18 miles of NCN 96 into Coleraine and returning to Riverside Park via the lovely Lower Bann.

This event is only suitable for those with some cycling experience and a reasonable level of fitness. While it is not suitable for primary school age children, families with older children are welcomed as the pace will be leisurely along mostly quiet country roads. There are several small hill climbs but the views over the Antrim Hills and Lower Bann are well worth the effort!

The event is free and much-needed refreshments will be available at the half-way mark! So why not come along, get on yer bike and enjoy the leisurely exercise. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and wear a helmet. Further details on this event are available on www.ballymoney.gov.uk or by telephoning 028 2766 0227. Details on other Bike Week events are available on www.colerainebc.gov.uk or by telephoning 028 7034 7234.
