Voluntary Arts Week 2014 gets underway

From May 9 to 18, Voluntary Arts Week celebrates creative participation, so why not get involved in one of our many events?
During the week, groups from all over the Ireland, north and south of the border, will open their doors and demonstrate their awesome creativity with specially organized events.

Hide AdFrom puppeteering in Cork to guerrilla knitting in Londonderry; choral singing in Down to printmaking in Bangor and pottery in Belfast there are more creative activities than you can shake a big colourful stick at.

It’s not too late for cultural groups to get involved, either. If you’re running an event between 9 – 18 May, you can add it to the Voluntary Arts Week website for all to see. All through the year, choirs, drama clubs, painting groups, amateur orchestras, quilters and many more, get creative purely for the love of it. Voluntary Arts Week celebrates that activity – and encourage you and everyone you know to find out how good it feels to get creative.
This year’s Voluntary Arts Week has two special strands:
• Got a music, dance or singing group? Take it outside with a public ‘Flashmob’. We’ve linked up with the Big Big Sing and The Big Dance Pledge to create special packs for groups to follow.

Voluntary Arts Week is run by Voluntary Arts, the UK-wide development organisation for amateur arts and crafts. But the real stars of Voluntary Arts Week are the thousands of amateur arts and crafts group who regularly bring life, colour and arts to their local areas.
