Action Cancer shop set to get the Boots factor

Action Cancer in Lurgan is being taken over by a hit-squad of high-flying business gurus in an attempt to raise extra cash for the charity.

The team from Boots the Chemist will be taking over running the Action Cancer store next Thursday, September 18 as part of the Business in the Community’s Cares Shops’ Challenge.

The team asks that you pop into the Action Cancer shop in Market St to help them win. They will be one of 15 teams of business volunteers from a range of companies across Northern Ireland will be taking over all of Action Cancer’s charity shops with squads from various major players such as NI Housing Executive and Spar.

Boots team is planning their ‘take over’, busily gathering new stock for their shops and putting plans in place to fundraise and market their activities. There will be an overall winner chosen from the 15 teams – the one that raises the most money, and a range of other categories in which the teams can enter such as most innovative idea and best photograph.

Peter Lynch, Action Cancer Shops’ Manager said: “Every pound raised makes a real difference. Since Action Cancer’s BIG BUS went on the road in 2006 we have provided over 24,500 breast screenings and 13,700 M.O.T. health checks. The money raised during this challenge could be used to help someone you know.”
