101mph rush to the airport

A WOMAN rushing to the airport with a couple going on honeymoon ended up in court with a booking of her own.

Nessa Theresa Campbell (32) from Ophir Gardens, Belfast, was detected travelling at 101mph on the M1.

Thursday's sitting of Craigavon Magistrates Court was told Campbell said she was in a rush to the airport when cautioned.

Her solicitor said Campbell had been enroute to the airport to get her brother and his wife on honeymoon.

The solicitor said she felt responsible for getting them there. Road conditions were reported as fine.

Campbell, the solicitor added, is a human resources manager for the Iceland group and her licence is important to her.

The district judge said given her record and plea he would not disqualify her from driving. He endorsed four points on her licence and said he would reflect his displeasure in the fine, which he fixed at 250.
