BBC Radio Foyle’s Gardener Gareth Austin has joined visitors for an Autumnal walk through the historic grounds of Drenagh Estate in Limavady.

This ramble through the estate took in many features including the Walled Garden, Moon Garden, Woodland walk, WW2 Avenue, ancient Drumachose Church ruins, Broughan Wall, landscapes lawns, ancient and mature trees, Conifer arboretum and much more.

The walk started at the Walled Gardens and participants enjoyed a picturesque walk taking in all the above features as well as the rivers, wildlife and all that Drenagh estate has to offer.

Although the estate stretches to over 1000 acres the participants the participants got a great chance to explore the gardens and see many of the wonderful plants under Gareth’s expert eye. This was the latest in a series of rambles through historic grounds.

“Properties of this significance are rare in Northern Irelandd, and I was delighted when Conolly agreed to this event, previous walks I’ve led in Ashbrook House, Ballyscullion House, Barenscourt Estate and Learmount Castle have shown me that there is a passion for historic garden tours,” said Mr Austen.
