'Accelerating exuberance' recalled in court

A MAN detected by police driving a motorbike at 84mph in a 40mph zone "got into a bit of accelerating exuberance" as he pulled away from premises, a barrister told North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine on Friday.

Joseph Alexander McNicholl (21), of Scally Park, Loughgiel, had the offence detected at Coolkeeran Road on October 29 last year.

and police also noticed a defective rear tyre on the motorbike.

Defence barrister Francis Rafferty said the tyre offence was an oversight as McNicholl did not realise it had become so badly worn.

District Judge Richard Wilson told McNicholl, who attends a Jobstart programme in Ballymena, he was “going too fast”.

The defendant had three points imposed and was fined a total of 150.
