Appeal for help on family tree

AN Englishman trying to trace his family tree has been led to Lurgan.

Alistair Cochran from Northampton has appealed for anyone in the town who can help provide information on his family history which is linked to a number of very common Lurgan surnames.

He's trying to research the family tree for his mother who is 85 and in ill health.

His mother's great grandfather was George Beattie, who left the Lurgan area to go to Northampton where he joined the police. On the 1861 Census George was 32 as was his wife Sarah.

Alistair's grandmother was named Cordner. She ran a farm under Lord Lurgan and had three sons and daughters, who married into the Turkington, Gilbert and Cochran family.

If any of the information rings a bell and you can help Alistair with his research he can be contacted at Sutton House, 118 St George's Avenue, Northampton, NN2 6JF or by emailing [email protected]
