Ballymoney Council highest rate of sick absence

Average sickness absenteeism rates across Northern Ireland councils last year was just over 11 days per employee, a slight improvement on the previous year.

A dozen councils saw staff absenteeism rise, with the highest rate in Ballymoney Borough Council, in which staff took 16 days. In Larne staff took almost 15 days. The lowest rate was six days at Fermanagh District Council. The details were published in a report by the Local Government Auditor. The report noted that the problem had improved most at Carrickfergus Borough Council, which had the highest rate in 2013.
