Ballynure hosts nature event

The first ever BallyNATure Day was held in the village on Saturday, February 27.

The event was held in Ballynure Presbyterian Church halls and ran from 11am until 4pm.

It was well attended, with more than 300 people coming together to celebrate everything to do with the local countryside, from natural healing to bugs.

There was something for all ages to enjoy, with exhibitions, arts and crafts, teas, aromatherapy, face painting and a nature quiz.

Those is attendance got the chance to learn about a number of species of animals and got up close and personal with some unusual creatures.

To keep in the spirit of the event, people were encouraged to walk to it.

The event, which was free to enter, was hosted by Ballynure and District Community Association and supported by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

South Antrim UUP MP Danny Kinahan and South Antrim DUP MLA Paul Girvan showed their support for the event and helped to mark the special occasion.
