Bonds Glen 1960trip to Liverpool

DO you recognise anyone in this picture of Kildoag and Bonds Glen folk on an outing to Liverpool around 1960?

The Kildoag and Bonds Glen History Club - which has been meeting regularly for nearly a year now - has uncovered the picture amid an array of local lore and photographs contributed by members.

One of the founders of the club Stanley McCombe believes the photograph is of a farmers’ outing to Liverpool organised by Bibby’s meal circa 1960.

Bibby’s, were an animal feed manufacturer with a base at Foyle Street at the time.

According to Stanley: “The boat was not allowed to dock in Liverpool because of bad weather and spent about 10 hours outside the port at anchor.

“We think this was 1960.”

Mr McCombe asks anyone who can identify anyone in the picture to contact him (71398720), Mark (71343240) or Louisa (71338612).

Anyone with further information or who is in possession of similar old photographs or simply has an interest in the history of the Kildoag and Bonds Glen area can come along to the next meeting in Kildoag Hall tomorrow Thursday, March 29 at 8pm. Everyone is welcome.
