Anderson had a history of ill health and had grown the cannabis for self medication. He had only been growing it for a few weeks.
Mr Frank McCartan, representing the defendant, said Anderson had served a prison sentence following a previous appearance in court and this had led to depression and difficulty in getting a job.
He lost one job when his previous history came to light.
He added that his client was doing his best to turn the corner and maybe probation could help.
District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, adjourned sentencing in case until April 16 so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared.
