Caught using phone while driving

A PORTADOWN man has been caught using his mobile phone whilst driving.

He was 21-year-old Andrew Clarke of Markethill Road.

Clarke faced Craigavon Magistrate's Court on Thursday and was fined 60 and given three penalty points for using his phone whilst driving on Castle Street in Craigavon on June 12 this year.

He was also fined 25 for a secondary charge of failing to produce insurance.

His solicitor said it was a foolish mistake - Clarke's phone had rang and he'd answered it. The court was told this was the first time the young man had come before the attention of police.
