Celebrating 40 years of Alliance

Speaking at the event, South Antrim MLA and party leader David Ford paid tribute to the former leaders and activists who created the foundations which have allowed Alliance to achieve success.

Reflecting on an historic year for the party, he said: “People set up the party as the radical alternative to tribalism and we have lost none of that vision or ambition in the intervening 40 years. If anything, Alliance has expanded our appeal and we are growing year on year. The public want positive, constructive politics and that is what Alliance has consistently delivered down the years.

“The first 40 years have been brilliant. I’m sure the next 40 will be as equally exciting, and we are very confident of delivering an even bigger Alliance team at the 2011 Assembly and Council elections.”
