Celtic fundraiser nets £27k for Wee Oscar’s campaign

THE Glasgow-based WeeOscar4Life Campaign has raised a massive £27,000 for the Oscar Knox Appeal.

Around 400 people helped raise the cash at a Race Night and Auction held at Celtic Park on November 17. The event, attended by Oscar’s dad Stephen, raised an astonishing £27,350.

Thanking everyone involved in the fundraiser, Stephen said: “Oscar’s fight goes on and we will continue to take advice from his doctors regarding future treatment paths.”

The four-year-old Glengormley boy has been bravely battling neuroblastoma - a form of cancer - for over and year and is still undergoing treatment at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

Unfortunately, due to health complications, he was unable to undergo a planned programme of specialist immunotherapy treatment in the USA last month. However, the medical bills run up during his stay in hospital in Philadelphia could cost as much as £400,000.

Fundraisers have already raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Wee Oscar’s appeal and the Neuroblastoma Alliance UK, but the push for cash continues.
