City has just 14% of Belfast DSD jobs

LONDONDERRY has just 14 per cent (744) of Belfast’s complement (5,164) of Department of Social Development (DSD) civil service posts despite being 40 per cent its size in population terms.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland provided the information on the deployment of staff-in-post based on the address information for its offices across Northern Ireland including in Londonderry and Belfast.

Despite having just under half the population of Belfast, Londonderry has just 1/7 of the DSD jobs the Northern Ireland capital boasts. The information was released in response to a Question from Foyle MLA Colum Eastwood.
