‘Council can make Lisburn stronger’

Alderman Allan Ewart, Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, stressed the value of the public realm works and other initiatives as well as the city’s rates levels to depict a positive future.

“Lisburn has much to be proud of and celebrate and it is important that we recognise this,” he said.

“We have the highest skills base in Northern Ireland, with a strong global manufacturing base and the second lowest business rates in Northern Ireland.

“The Council has recently completed the £5 million Public Realm Scheme in the City Centre, and we are confident our ratepayers and businesses will be able to see the opportunities that this new space will bring in the coming months and years.

“We have also been closely involved in the £16 million development of Hillsborough Castle and Visitor Centre as a visitor attraction.

“The Council has established a dedicated investment programme which recently included a presence at MIPIM UK; the largest property and investment exhibition in the UK, the only NI Council area to exhibit.

“Another high profile event, hosted by Jeffrey Donaldson, MP in Westminster, is planned for next Spring.

“I would like to emphasise our commitment to working in partnership with our local businesses and communities.

“The Council has the ability to make our City stronger, more effective and flexible to the needs of local people, and I urge residents and businesses to support us in this.”
