Flat fire started in communal area

AN investigation has been launched after residents at a block of flats in Carnhill had to be rescued from a fire this morning.

Police in Foyle and Northern Ireland Fire Service attended the report of the fire at a block of flats in the Carnhill area.

The alarm was raised at around 6.30am, when a report was received of a fire, which is believed to have been started in a communal area of a property.

No one was injured during the incident and enquiries are continuing, a PSNI spokesman said.
