A PPS Prosecutor told District Judge Mr Paul Copeland that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Fayad’s solicitor made a legal aid application for two counsel given the nature of the “unusual charges.”

He said his client was a Lebanese National whose children were UK residents who had been living with their mother.

He explained how his client was apprehended at Dublin airport by the Garda Siochana and the Dublin authorities.

The court granted the application and Fayad was returned for trial on continuing bail to Newry Crown Court on 16th May.
