Man (28) in ‘critical condition’ after stabbing outside bar in Castlederg

Detectives investigating a stabbing outside a bar in the Main Street area of Castlederg on Saturday (September 2) have made a third arrest.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Monday in the Castlederg area on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody at this time.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck, upper left arm, chest and cheek and remains in a critical condition in hospital.Chief Inspector Wilson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time the stabbing took place, or who may have captured dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 127 02/09/23.

Meanwhile, a man, also 28, who was arrested on Saturday evening on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted murder remains in custody.A 27-year-old man, who was also arrested on Saturday, has been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries.
