‘On Yer Bike’ pilot to deter cycle thieves
A surge in the number of bike thefts has prompted the PSNI to pilot a new campaign ‘On Yer Bike’ to combat the problem.
A total of 81 bikes were stolen last year. Police want everyone to sign up to the scheme and register their bike details on a national database.
Sergeant Wendy Walker, E District Community Safety, said: “The owner can then access the database and print off a logbook for their bike, upload photos and also change ownership details should they sell the bike. Their bikes will also be property marked which helps to deter thieves and cycles can be traced.”
