A WOMAN from Pomeroy is among four people being detained by police for questioning in relation to dissident republican activity.

She was arrested during a police swoop of parts of County Tyrone and County Antrim on Saturday where a total of seven people were taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

A total of seven arrests were made by police, who seized cars and carried out searches in a number of locations including Omagh, Carrickmore, Pomeroy and Toome. A 45 year-old man from the Kildress area was one of those arrested at the weekend but was released unconditionally on Sunday, along with two other males, who were detained in Strabane.

On Monday police were granted a further five days to question the local woman and three other men on suspicion of dissident republican activity.

This is the second time in as many months the PSNI has focused it’s dissident investigations on the Cookstown area.

Just a few weeks ago two men were arrested in the Cookstown area and questioned but released a short time later without charge.

Last month the MAIL reported how police had stepped up their investigation into dissident activity in the area over the last number of months.
