Suspended jail term imposed

A Magherafelt man who was unable to complete a community service order, had it revoked at the local Magistrates Court on Wednesday and given a two-month jail sentence suspended for two years.

A Magherafelt man who was unable to complete a community service order, had it revoked at the local Magistrates Court on Wednesday and given a two-month jail sentence suspended for two years.

Stephen McVeigh (49), of Garden Street, was said by a Probation Officer to have failed to attend work on dates in August, September and October last.

A defence lawyer said McVeigh had a suffered a head injury when younger which had developed into epilespy. She said he has been hospitalised, resulting in him being unable to comply with the order.
