Don’t miss the Duck Dive!

IT’S the wettest and wildest way to spend St Patrick’s Day!

The annual Duck Dive at Portstewart is a test of courage and adventure and only the most hardy take the icy dip into the Herring Pond each year .

Intrepid fundraisers will again brave the freezing water to raise money for the RNLI on Thursday, March 17 from 1pm.

As usual Henry McKinney and his organising team want to hear from anyone willing to take part.

And they encouraging eveyone who wants to take part to raise as much money as possible for the Lifeboat.

Last year £2,000 was raised but it’s hoped, even in these times of austerity, that that total can be surpassed.

On the day there will be the usual cavalcade of jumpers in fancy dress throwing themselves into the freezing waters of the Herring Pond.

The Portrush Lifeboat will make its annual appearance so there’s plenty to see even if you are not taking part.

Application forms are now available for the event and can be picked up at Bar 7, the Portstewart Arms and the Anchor.

Afterwards there will be Irish stew, music, prizegiving and a raffle in Shenanigans.

Even if you’re not participating, get down there and enjoy the craic and make a donation to the Lifeboat.
