Drew Nelson was '˜tremendous help' in city's difficult times
The death of Orange Order Grand Secretary Drew Nelson is a loss to the people of Londonderry, Lord Hay has said.
A pivotal figure behind the scenes in the Institution, Mr Nelson (60) died on Monday following a short fight with cancer.
Extending sympathy to Mr Nelson’s family, former Assembly speaker Lord Hay said: “He was someone who brought a huge amount to the Orange institutions and he is someone who will be greatly missed.
“When we had difficulties in this city, Drew was a tremendous help to everyone. He will be very greatly missed in Orange circles.
“He is a great loss to the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.”
