Fine and points for 'dough-nutting' driver

A PORTRUSH mechanic was told to 'cool down' when he appeared before North Antrim Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Before District Judge Richard Wilson, was Alastair James Turkington (21) of Ballywillan Road, Portrush.

Turkington was charged with driving without due care and attention following an incident at the Mountsandel Road in Coleraine on September 10, last year.

Court heard that Turkington was ‘dough-nutting’ his car around the roundabout when police came on the scene.

His solicitor told the court that his client had been driving for five years, and that his licence was crucial to his employment.

District Judge Richard Wilson warned Turkington about his driving, Mr Wilson said: “It never ceases to amaze me that young men in the motor trade carry out these actions and get into stupid situations.”

Turkington was fined 200 and given six penalty points
