This is the one of the first pictures, posted online by the PSNI, of the dog at the centre of an animal cruelty probe.

Collie dog, Bessie, is now understood to be with vets today (Wednesday) following an investigation by police after a report of alleged animal cruelty was made to officers yesterday (Tuesday). A statemet on the PSNI Banbridge Facebook page said Bessie was now “in safe hands”.

It comes after a video was posted online which showed footage of a dog allegedly being attacked by two individuals.

Officers earlier released a man, aged 43, who was arrested in connection to the investgation. He has been released pending further inquiries.
