Most importantly, it was an enjoyable blend of listening to expert advice and participating in an organised fitness regime.

Early advice was given by Barbara Blair, a registered Podiatrist, spoke about the need to take proper care of the feet, while Carolyn Blair, Beauty Therapist demonstrated the art of facial make-up.

Then it was down to a session of keep-fit exercises led by Fitness Specialist, Jemma McLaughlin, Co-Ordinator at ‘Route 2 Fitness’.

This was followed by a question-and-answer session with young Ballymoney sporting brothers, Howard and Chris Beverland, both of whom emphasised the importance of strategic training to achieve sporting success.

Howard is a talented young footballer with Coleraine Football Club, while Chris is a top player with Ballymoney Rugby Club.

Marie Hegarty, Breathe Easy Causeway Chairperson, said: “This illustrates the breadth of activity at our monthly get-togethers. We are about more than listening to detailed medical advice on respiratory illness. We aim to encourage healthy and active lifestyles. We all can be more positive, even if many of us are battling severe breathing problems. It is all a matter of doing what we can, under expert guidance.”
