Sadkowski struggled and tried to break free. He was handcuffed but he screamed at police and tried to throw his bodyweight into an officer.

A barrister said his ex-partner now had a harassment order in place for two years.

The lawyer said Sadkowski clearly had an alcohol problem but he went into a detox programme in December and since then had been abstinent.

He suggested that a probation order with a programme to help him stay away from alcohol would be appropriate.

Deputy District Judge, Mr Sean O’Hare, impose dprobation but warned the defendant if he did not co-operate he would be brought back to court and re-sentenced.
