Four year driving ban

A CRAIGAVON man who was twice over the legal drink drive limit has been disqualified for four years and been fined £300.

Thursday's sitting of Craigavon Magistrates Court was told Malcolm Aloysious Macbride (46) of Legahory Court was stopped by police on the Lough Road at 1.05am on August 1.

He failed the roadside breath test and when an evidential sample was taken he was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 milliltres of breath (just over twice the legal limit).

His solicitor told the court he had come into Lurgan to find his cousin and had been looking round bars in the town. At the last bar he sat down and started drinking.

The solicitor added Macbride had intended to take a taxi home but the rank was very busy.

It was pointed out it was Macbride's second conviction in 10 years.
