Free resources to help volunteers

Volunteers’ Week which runs from June 1 to 7, is now in it’s 29 year, and this year is inviting volunteer involving organisations to attend a Volunteers’ Week Roadshow at Derry Central Library, at Foyle Street, on Friday, April 26 from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now, said: “We are inviting organisations to come along to the roadshow where they will have the opportunity to pick up FREE resources to help recognise their volunteers, meet other volunteer involving organisations from the area, get ideas for celebrations and tips for media coverage and take part in a media opportunity to promote their organisation and local volunteers. They will hear first hand about regional plans for the Week and how they can help raise the profile of volunteering as well as being part of the biggest celebration of volunteering across the UK.

“Our theme for Volunteers Week is Celebrating Local Heroes. We believe all volunteers are heroes in their communities. There are currently over a quarter of a million volunteers in Northern Ireland who all play a vital role; from volunteer drivers to sports coaches, from hospital volunteers to those working in charity shops. Volunteers’ Week gives us the opportunity to shine the spotlight on these volunteers and give them the recognition and thanks they deserve.”

Places Limited. THos who would like to attend should contact Natasha on 028 9023 2020 or email [email protected] to book at place.
