Funeral of Portadown man killed in Armagh crash to take place today

Mr Robb was driving a minibus on the Keady Road on Thursday when the vehicle was crushed by a falling tree.

Mr Robb (56) was from Portadown and worked for more than two years at Dungannon-based firm Eurocoach.

His funeral is due to take place today (Sunday) at 2pm at Seagoe Parish Church, Portadown.

A woman who worked with Mr Robb is fighting for her life in hospital.

Both worked for a Dungannon coach firm and were travelling towards Armagh after dropping off two passengers near Keady when the tragedy happened before 5pm.

The 39-year-old woman was in the front of the eight-seater van when a large tree fell across the road and on top of the vehicle.

She was said to have undergone an operation in hospital after suffering severe injuries to her neck and back.

Police had described her condition as ‘critical but stable’ when the mother-of-two was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital following the crash.

A Southern Trust spokesperson said she was in a stable condition when transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The company provides transport for people with learning difficulties travelling to day centres.

The workers had dropped off two adults with learning difficulties just before the crash.

Eurocoach managing director Sam Sinnamon said staff had been left devastated by the tragedy.

“It is very sad. We have lost all heart,” he told the Irish News.

“We are just talking about it all the time but pushing ourselves to keep going.”

He described Mr Robb, who was a father and grandfather, as a conscientious and accomplished driver who always could be relied upon.

“The type of work he did was with people with special needs and people with learning difficulties and he was excellent at that,” he said.

“He had a very caring nature and he would make you laugh when you were down.”
