Grandmaster Flash date with Inver Park is reorganised

The Jam in the Park event due to take place at Inver Park on Saturday, August 11 featuring Grandmaster Flash has been reorganised. It will now take place in the Belfast nightclub complex Mynt on the same date from 2pm – 2am.

The line-up will still feature main headline acts Grandmaster Flash, Utah Saints, East and Young and will include 30 other DJs across four areas, a number of whom are from the Larne area. Throughout the day a range of promotions will be in place and a barbecue will run from 7pm outside.

Mervyn McKay, who is one of the organisers of the event said, “Unfortunately a number of obstacles have been encountered that we cannot overcome to make the event work the way we had intended. We assessed the situation and decided the best option was to look for an alternative venue”

While the main event will not now take place at Inver Park, there will be live music played at LIPS throughout the day, and shuttle buses will be organised for anyone from the town still wanting to attend the event throughout the day. Details will be made available in the near future.

Mervyn continued: “The good news is entry will now only cost £10 for entry for the whole day. Our event is taking over the whole of the Mynt complex on the day and access will only be permitted to paying customers. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Mervyn said that it was hoped to keep a festival atmosphere at Inver Park during the day for people in the town with DJs and other acts playing inside and outside the clubhouse subject to licence.

More information will be provided in the coming week through the website www.lips-kids.org

Anyone who has bought a ticket for the original event through Ticketmaster will be offered a full refund.
