Had failed to attend community work

A 32-year-old man has completed a court order involving 240 hours unpaid work, Banbridge Magistrates Court was told last Thursday.

The community service order had been imposed on Curtis Shane Whitla, Chestnut Place, Banbridge, on July 9 last year.

Having been convicted on a theft offence he was given 240 hours community service.

The probation service brought the matter back before the court when the defendant failed to attend, as he had been instructed, on three occasions, July 27, August 5 and August 13 last year.

Last week’s court heard that he had now completed all the hours.

To mark the breach of the order Deputy District Judge Benita Boyd imposed a conditional discharge for a further period of 12 months.
