Hillsborough bicycle stand commitment is warmly welcomed by local politicians

LAGAN Valley MLA Paul Givan and local Councillor Paul Stewart have welcomed a commitment by Roads Service to place a bicycle parking stand in Hillsborough.

“I am pleased that Roads Service has given a commitment to place a new bicycle stand in Hillsborough village,” said Mr Givan. “We have been making representations to Lisburn City Council and the Department and I can confirm that this installation will take place.

“As the summer approaches there are many more cyclists present on our roads and as local representatives we are keen to encourage the use of other means of transport other than a car. The placement of this bicycle stand will be a useful addition for cyclists in Hillsborough as they park bicycles to travel onward via public transport.”

Mr Stewart added: “I know many cyclists who regularly travel on the roads in around Hillsborough.

“The installation of this parking stand will enable bicycles to be parked off the footpath yet in an orderly manner. I welcome this commitment and hope it will adequately meet the needs of those will use it.”
