The ‘Beat the Freeze’ message reinforces the call to check that homes and businesses are prepared for any cold weather conditions.

Gerry Flynn, Director of Landlord Services at the Housing Executive, said: “While the last few winters have been relatively mild, there is no guarantee that the winter of 2014/15 will not see a deterioration in weather conditions.

“The Housing Executive would encourage everyone to take steps to protect their water pipes as we head into winter. NI Water’s ‘Beat the Freeze’ leaflet is available from our offices across Northern Ireland, and we encourage people to act upon the advice given.”

Charlie Gallagher, Head of Networks Water at NI Water, added: “NI Water is delighted that the Housing Executive is supporting us in promoting this important message. We are grateful that our information leaflets, plus some of our handy stop-valve tags, will be available in Housing Executive offices, so we urge the public to take simple steps now in order to avoid severe damage later.”

The advertising campaign will be rolled out through various media outlets including TV, radio, print and billboards.
