Jennifer gets shortlisted for pharmacy award

A BALLYMENA pharmacy worker has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award.

Jennifer Hutchinson of Sainsbury’s pharmacy in the Braidwater Retail Park is amongst the finalists from across the UK for ‘Pharmacy Assistant of the Year’ in the 2010 Awards run by the leading weekly magazine for retail pharmacists, Chemist + Druggist (C+D).

Jennifer joined the branch of Sainsbury’s when it opened in 1997, initially working as shelf packer but working her way up via the fish counter and the kiosk to be promoted to the pharmacy.

Alastair O’Neil is Jennifer’s manager and nominated her for the award. He says: “Jennifer is an exemplary pharmacy assistant. She has an insatiable interest in training, is never idle and regularly acts under her own initiative in completing tasks. She is universally popular with her colleagues and is especially liked by her customers. She recently received a letter from Justin King, chief executive of Sainsbury's, praising her for customer service that was brought to his attention by a customer.”

Jennifer has been a major champion of smoking cessation and many Ballymena smokers have quit thanks to her efforts. She will now be invited to attend a glittering awards ceremony in London’s Mayfair on June 9, where the winner of the coveted trophy will be revealed.
