LATEST: Man charged with perverting the course of justice.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Coleraine pensioner Norman Moffatt in January 2001 have charged a 49 year old man for perverting the course of justice.

The 49-year-old was arrested in the Coleraine area on Tuesday morning.

He will appear before Ballymena Court later this morning (Thursday).

73-year-old Mr Moffatt was stabbed as he returned home after buying his morning paper.

He died two months later in March 2001.

Earlier this year a 42 year old man was charged with Mr Moffatt’s murder.

The suspect arrested today has been taken to Coleraine police station for questioning.
