Speaking to the Sentinel, Diane Rathfield said: “It was very unexpected. It was obviously lovely to receive something like that. There are so many people working in the community and voluntary sector who do fantastic work. I was very honoured to be one of the ones granted recognition for the work that we all do.

“I work as part of a team so this is really an award for everyone. It is very honouring and very flattering. It is lovely for the sector to get the recognition. It is difficult for me as an individual to talk about the award whenever I work as part of a team.

“I feel very much that the work that I do couldn’t be done without the help and support of everyone in the team. It is very flattering that someone has decided to put me forward.”
