Macosquin District LOL No8 installation

THE quarterly meeting of Macosquin District LOL No 8 was held in Ballinteer Orange Hall last Monday evening.

Wor Bro Henry Millen WDM presided over a very good attendance of brethren. Following the opening devotions of lodge had been carried out, the sympathy of the lodge was tendered to all those who had been bereaved since the last meeting.

Also good wishes to all those suffering illness.

Bro Millen extended a very warm welcome to the visiting brethren which included, Right Wor Bro Robert Saulters, Grand Master of The Grand Orange of Ireland, Right Wor Bro Trevor Kyle, County Grand Master, Right Wor Bro George Duddy, Deputy County Grand Master along with visiting brethren from Coleraine District LOL No 2, Garvagh District LOL No 4, Kilrea District LOL No 5 and Limavady District No 6.

After routine business had been conducted Bro Millen WDM thanked the officers and brethren of the district for their support during his term of office.

He called upon Wor Bro George Duddy DCGM to take the chair and conduct the installation of officers, assisted by Bro David McFetridge, Treasurer of Garvagh District, in the deputy chair:

In his remarks after the installation Bro Duddy paid tribute to Bro Millen for the excellent manner in which he had led Macosquin district during his term of office for the past four years,

He also congratulated all the newly installed officers. Bro Melvin Colley, the newly installed WDM, called upon Bro Robert Saulters Grand Master to present Bro Millen with his Past Masters Certificate and Jewel.

At this stage of the meeting the district lodge along with the private lodges of the district presented Bro Saulters with cheques for the Grand Master’s Appeal which is supporting the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund.

Bro Saulters thanked the district for their kind invitation to be present on this occasion when Bro Millen had completed his term of office as he had. originally installed him as WDM.

Bro Saulters gave an update on matters connected with the Institution, and expressed he thanks to the district and private lodges for their most generous donations to his appeal.

A vote of thanks to all the visiting brethren who had taken part in the installation was proposed by Bro Darren Gaston DDM and ably conveyed by Bro Melvin Colley WDM.

After the meeting supper was served by the ladies committee of Ballinteer lodge.
